Goodbye Cubscouts
Tayson and Ryan both finished their Webelos and were initiated into the BSA program. Tayson is now an official 11 year old scout.

Arrow of Light
Tayson completed his webelos and arrow of light this month. He worked hard to finish everything before turning 11. The award ceremony was fun and typical cub scouts - he got his face painted and learned details about all the aspects of scouting. Way to go buddy - we are so proud of you for working hard.

Luke's Bobcat
He finished his requirements a while back but I kept forgetting to tell his den leader before pack meeting. But we finally got to do his bobcat. I had Tayson take pictures....so it's a little crazy!

Pinewood Derby
This year the pinewood derby was the same day as the dance concert so it was a busy busy day. Todd and Tayson went online and looked at lots of options and came up with something fun instead of fast - a block of cheese with a mouse driving. Love it. It screams Tayson since he is just so much fun and always wants to make people laugh. Luckily for us it was also very easy to make. They started and finished the day of the race and Tayson won most creative car. Way to go buddy!

Pack Meeting
I am not cut out for cub scouts. I'm not a den mother or cub master I'm just the mom of a cub scout so once a month I go to pack meeting with all of my kids. Maybe if Todd were home during the week he could take Tayson and I could stay home with the kids and only go when he was getting a big award. Then maybe I would like it.
But I try to be a supportive mom so I rush through dinner, leaving a full sink of dirty dishes (one of my very biggest pet peeves) so I can get to the church by 6:30. Last night Luke refused to go with me so I let him stay home alone until Timmy got home (it was quite a discussion we had before I finally agreed). The girls were simply crazy. They hate sitting on those hard chairs and I feel guilty letting them go play in the nursery because then someone else has to watch them. Luckily there were a few of my awesome young women there last night and they said they would rather be in there with kids then in pack meeting so for half the meeting I was kid free. Sophie kept going in and out of the rooms though and would walk right across the front where they were doing presentations (sorry to everyone who has pictures of her).
When we first got there I let Claire play with my phone to keep quiet and since she couldn't watch youtube I guess she pulled out the camera. Today when I looked at my phone I found 49 pictures.
and many many more. I know I need to have a better attitude about scouting or I'm going to have to do time as a den mother but it is just SO HARD for me.
P.S. did I really take Sophie out of the house looking like that? What is wrong with me????

Tayson's Bobcat

Tayson earned his bobcat this week at pack meeting. If you look really hard you can see my back (in the beige sweater) while I bend over and Tayson puts the pin on me. Thanks Luke for taking a picture without me asking. Sadly, he earned his bobcat on a day when I was at my wits end and actually left pack meeting before it was over because Sophie, Claire and Luke were too crazy for me to handle. Next time I'll do better. I love how much Tays loves cub scouts and I am proud of him for working hard to earn his bobcat. Way to go kiddo!
Tayson's leader sent me a few more pictures of his bobcat. Yippee!
