Dance Concert

Dance concert weekend is always crazy!  The kids each had a 30 minute class dress rehearsal, class pictures and a full dress rehearsal during the week.  The 5 performances in 2 days.  Sophie was completely exhausted all weekend but she hung in there and did all 5 dances.  It was so much fun having 3 kids in the concert and I absolutely loved watching them every time.  The entire show was so well done - it was a Rivals theme and I love dance.  Sophie did a bathtime number to "Splish Splash".  Claire did a soldiers number to "Party Rock Anthem" and Luke did a video gamer number to "Game Over".

I love that Luke wouldn't smile when he posed and

Pinewood Derby

This year the pinewood derby was the same day as the dance concert so it was a busy busy day.  Todd and Tayson went online and looked at lots of options and came up with something fun instead of fast - a block of cheese with a mouse driving.  Love it.  It screams Tayson since he is just so much fun and always wants to make people laugh.  Luckily for us it was also very easy to make.  They started and finished the day of the race and Tayson won most creative car.  Way to go buddy!

Tayson needs glasses

For a few weeks Tayson has been trying to get me to take him to get his eyes checked again.  Things kept coming up so we put it off over and over.  Finally this week he said he had to go get them checked.  So Tuesday night I packed all the kids up and we went to the mall - no doctor that night.  UGH.  So we went to 2 other places to see if he could do a walk-in appointment.  No luck.  So we scheduled an appointment for the next day and sure enough he needs glasses.  He is a 0.75 on his left eye and 0.25 on his right and has a slight astigmatism.  He picked his own glasses out and I'm pretty sure he looks even cuter than he did before.  I even like his long messy hair-do with the glasses.  He will get them in 1-2 weeks so he won't have them for the end of school - but at least we'll be ready for 5th grade :)

He got his eyes dilated and wanted me to take a picture of how huge his pupils were.

The Garden - Part 7 Planting

My dad helped me plant my garden.  We planted 2 types of corn, 2 types of potatoes, 2 types of onions, 2 types of pumpkins, beets, swiss chard, lettuce, and green beans so far.

I still need to plant my starters - 2 types of tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, butternut squash and peppers.

I am so excited that some of my plants are coming up.  It's way too fun watching the tiny little plants come up.

Happy Birthday Todd!

This year Todd's birthday was on a Thursday so he was flying home most of the day.  The kids and I baked him a cake and then hid in the house to surprise him.  We hid behind the couch and when he came in the kids stayed really quiet when he walked to the bedroom - then he walked by the couch and we jumped out.  The best part is that he was actually surprised.  We sang and had cake before the kids went to bed.

Then the next morning before the kids went to school we had birthday pancakes.

Happy Birthday!! We sure do love you Todd!

Happy Birthday Claire Bear

My sweet little girl is 6!! Her birthday was on a Sunday so it was pretty low key.  We started out with birthday pancakes of course.  It's no wonder the kids love it - they get whip cream and sprinkles for breakfast :)

Then we opened presents.  Glen and Dean got to celebrate with us since Kami was in the process of having Clark :)

Claire has been asking for very specific presents for a few months now.  She wanted the soft Mulan doll from the Disney store.  She showed me the picture on their website and kept reminding me.  She also asked my dad for the soft Jasmine doll.  And would quiz him daily to make sure he remembered which one.  "which princess grandpa?"  "soft or hard grandpa?"  My dad of course thought it would be funny to give her something else first so he gave her Pocahontas first then gave her Jasmine.  Ha.

Claire's Birthday

Claire wanted to have a Princess Tea Party for her b-day.  Everyone wore their favorite princess outfit or picked one out of the endless options my girls have.  I love that everyone is a different princess.  Lexie came as Cinderella before she was a princess and helped the boys serve during the tea party portion.

After each girl had their nails painted we applied bright red lipstick and played kiss the frog

I love these girls making kissy faces in their bright red lipstick.
Then we had the tea party - small sandwiches, fruit, pink lemonade, and cupcakes.

Look at my girl holding her pinky out like a true princess!

Singing to our girl.

Then we opened presents

And we finished with a quick dance party
