Multitasking

This is how we multitask:
1 - walk dogs
2 - deliver extra veggies to neighbors
3 - try out new scooter

Fresh Veggies

Hooray... my garden is producing!  I picked and ate my first zucchini from my garden.  It was so much fun.  I added a yellow squash from my mom's garden, and onion and fresh basil from my garden and sauteed them up in a little butter.  I could eat this every day!

And my green beans are ready to eat too.  I picked a huge bowl full and we ate them for Sunday dinner this week.

2013 Sidewalk of Fire

My neighborhood does Independence Day right.  We have a huge block party with carnival games, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, face painting, flag ceremony, and fireworks every year.  It's never on the 4th - this year we had it on July 5th.  Sadly the weather didn't cooperate so we didn't get to the fireworks.  The rain storm was awesome though.  I love a huge storm with real thunder and lightning.  We don't see them in Utah very often.

Kami with the best photo bomb ever -
and Luke joined the party but wouldn't look up (he's the gray blob on my lap)

After running home in the rain....we were soaked!

4th of July

This year the 4th was a little different than normal since all the men are partying in Alaska.  My day started with Kami and I doing the Freedom Run 10K.  Then I took the kids to the rec center to swim for a few hours.  Then we had a big dinner - rather than cook and heat up the house we did sandwiches and they were perfect.  Then all the mom's started to get restless so rather than wait 3 hours for the sun to go down we did a matinee firework show.  We started a little after 7:00 and by 8:30 all the kids were ready for bed and watching a movie.  Hooray!  Sadly, because the fireworks were going off all night - Zeus barked all night so I didn't get to bed early.  It was a great day and so much fun spending time with the family.

Yes she is in her pj's already

Love this silly boy!

Just us girls setting off fireworks

Tayson finally got to help light fireworks...he was pretty excited

Somehow Eli fell asleep half way through the show

My Artist

Sophie told me not go in her room.  She does this A LOT - she always tells us she's working on her "specialties".  Usually her room is just a complete disaster when this happens.  This time it was because she had "accidentally" drawn on her wall.  That is one heck of an accident.  She told me that the 000's are actually eggs - a mommy one, a daddy one, a kid and a baby.  And the girls aren't crying - there are small people in their eyes.  2 Points for creativity.

Too much produce

While my mom is gone to Alaska we get to take care of the garden.  And trust me there is lots to do.  Every few days we pick this much food. Then because we can't eat anywhere near this much (plus our garden has food coming off too) the kids get to walk around the neighborhood giving it away.  Maybe we should open a veggie stand and sell them for 0.25 cents :)

Speaking of my garden...isn't she pretty? Every night when it starts to cool off I go outside and spend time watering, weeding, checking on the fruits of my labor, and just enjoying the quiet beauty of my garden.  I guess I finally understand why my mom loves gardening so much.

My Little Fish

Somebody hates that she isn't on swim team and doesn't like to be left out.  So we have been working very hard on her swimming so she can be on the team next year.  She is a crazy swimmer and looks like she is drowning but she is really starting to get the hang of it.  With 10 more months of practice she will be swimming across the pool no problem.
