Ikea

Todd and I finally had time to go to Ikea and buy a shelf/drawer system for our closet.  Our closet is small and we have too much stuff in it so it was time to organize and declutter. The one we bought fit exactly in the space we had so we had to build it in the closet.  At one point I was behind the wardrobe with inches of space around me trying to hammer the back on.  It was so crazy tight then I had to stand on the side while Todd pushed the wardrobe back and then I could get out the hole on the side.  It was hilarious.  We took everything out of the closet so the room was a crazy mess.  We didn't finish putting it together until after 1:00 am but now that everything is put together and all the drawers are filled I am so happy.  It's perfect.

We also bought a new shelf/drawer for Sophie's room.  She wanted to replace her kitchen for a new "pet shop playground".  Todd had to fly to Winnipeg so Luke got to build the whole thing.  He loved putting everything together and had a blast.

The Flood

I decided to water the garden before work and when I turned on the hose there wasn't much pressure so I went over to turn it up then noticed the second hose on the splitter was turned on.  I flipped the switch then went to see where the hose was.....it was in the window sill and had been on all night!!!  I grabbed the hand pump and started pumping out the water (you can see the water line on the concrete that I did by hand) then called Todd.  He said to call David so I called him and he borrowed a neighbors electric pump and came over.  I thought how lucky I was that the window didn't break.  However when we got the water out I noticed the window sill paint wasn't looking so good.  We walked down there and the basement was totally flooded.  UGH!  I called Todd back and he called 911 restoration who came over within an hour to get things drying.  David, Steve, Eric and I got all the furniture out of the room while we waited.  It took a few days for the basement to dry out.  Timmy's old room is the worst (all the walls and the carpet were damaged) and half of the playroom.  Luckily for us our homeowners insurance covered most of it.  

Home Improvements - Part whatever

This is now gone out of our driveway. Hooray!! The trash is gone and soon very soon I will have my garage back. I am tired of having all our cars in front of the house. With a little clean up work this weekend we should be able to get 2 cars back in the garage. All we have left to do is caulk the baseboard and paint. We are soooooo close!

Home Improvements - Part 10

We decided to add the girls flooring to our already HUGE home improvement project. Todd worked from home this week and did lots of work on the house. Todd did the full demolition on the girls rooms during the day.



He decided to use our room as the storage space for the girls stuff. Where in the world am I supposed to sleep if we don't get the project done tonight???? Luckily - Todd and Trent got Sophie's room done a little after midnight so I was able to get some sleep after all.

Todd worked on Claire's room for a couple of hours the same night (while I was snoozing in bed) then finished it off the next day. I am so happy with how the rooms turned out. The color of the floors actually looks a little different because of the pink & green walls - but they are exactly the same.

Side Note: Since the girls didn't have beds I put them to bed on the couches. I put Claire on the big couch and Sophie on the little couch. When I put Soph's pillow and blanket down on the couch she said "that a stupid couch - I don't want a baby couch". It totally cracked me up. I told her it was the couch Luke likes to sleep on then she said "Luke not baby" and somehow I got her to lay down. She is a very silly little girl.

Home Improvements - Part 5

The wood is finished and the tiles are all cut and set. Trent, his buddy Rich, Todd and Danny stayed up until almost 6:00 am Friday night/Saturday morning working on the floor. I am so excited with how beautiful it is looking. We still need to grout the tile, caulk the wood edges and do the sealant then I'll have my kitchen back.

side note: keeping the kids and Shadow off the floor for 24 hours while family was in-town staying at my house was so dang hard!!

The Nursery

I realize that Sophie can almost walk and talk .... but her room is finally done. I of course was only the financial backer of the project. Timmy did most of the labor and Kati did all the design.







The polka dots are Wall-Pops. The polka dots were actually quite a fiasco. We ordered them online the week Sophie was born and they were back ordered. I got the white ones about a month ago and the yellow ones a few days ago. I had already cancelled my order and decided to order some on e-bay. Then I didn't love them so I went online again today to see if any stores carried them. Luckily, the BYU Bookstore carried them so I went during lunch and got blue and green. They didn't have any pink which is the main color I wanted but they had blocks so I bought those and cut them into circles. Yes it was a lot of extra work but it was so worth it.

The only problem .... I have 50 polka dots from e-bay if anyone wants them.
