Silly Sophie

The other day Sophie was playing a game on the iPad while I was working at home and I looked over and saw her sound asleep in the middle of her game.

"Hey Soph, you wanna walk to get the mail with me?"
"Sure mama, let me get my purse and some shoes."
(those are Tayson's flip flops)
Sure do love you little one!

Hiking the Y

I thought it would be fun for family night to take the kids to hike the Y. The kids haven't ever hiked it before and since I slept in and missed my workout it could double. I was a little unsure how Claire and Sophie would do so I asked Timmy and Cody to come with me so I would have 2 strong boys to help out. Then I thought Steve might want to bring his boys and mom and dad thought it would be fun so they came and brought Emma, Bruce and Audrey too. The kids had so much fun hiking. I was very impressed that not one of them complained once. I packed Sophie up most of the hill. She got out and walked a few times which was a huge break and then Timmy packed her all the way down the hill. Timmy put Claire on his shoulders at least half way up the hill and she walked all the way down the hill. She held my hand tight on the way down and slipped several times but never fell all the way down. It was a very fun family activity and we will for sure be doing this again!!

I can't believe my baby is 3!!!

When Sophie woke up I said "Happy Birthday!!!" and she quickly asked me if she was getting presents. I explained to her that we already had her party where she got her presents but that today was her actual birthday. So she asked again "I get presents?" Then she hurried back in her room and got her "party dress" on before we had birthday pancakes.

On the kids birthday's we let them choose where to go out to eat - and Sophie picked The Spaghetti Factory. She loves their mac-n-cheese and always eats most of my minestrone soup. She loved when they came and sang to her with a candle in her ice cream and there was a balloon man walking around who absolutely made her day. I asked him to make her a crown since it was her birthday and he made the hugest crown with a monstrous candle coming out of it. It was hilarious and she LOVED it!

When we got home the kids all went out on the trampoline and had sword fights with their balloons. Sophie's candle had come off by this point and she was beating everyone up with her big sword. She really is the life of the party.

I can't believe how fast the time is flying. It is crazy to me that my baby is 3 years old already. Sophie is so full of life and such an easy going kid. She is always having fun and loves to make people laugh. Her favorite food is mac-n-cheese. She loves all things princess, barbie, and dance. Her favorite color is purple and her favorite things to do are jump on the trampoline, ride her scooter and follow the boys around. I sure do love having such a fun and crazy girl in my life. Happy happy happy birthday my beautiful darling Sophie Bug!!!

Sidewalk of Fire

We love the neighborhood Sidewalk of Fire party - this was the 7th year and it was so much fun. The night started at 7:00 with carnival booths - face painting, balloon animals, snow cones, eating contests, ring tosses, etc. The kids had a blast and we just let them run around with their friends having fun. There was a DJ playing music and lots of food and fun.

A little later they shot off rockets for the kids to catch. They had pvc pipes hooked up to an air compressor and they shot rockets and then candy out of them. The kids LOVED it!!

Then there was a children's & veteran's parade. All the kids were in it waving flags with huge smiles on their faces. We had great seats on the lawn and could see the street and aerial fireworks great from where we were. It rained off and on a few different times during the festivities but nothing was going to slow the party down.

The kids and I right before the parade sitting in the rain.

Ladder of Fire

Trent brought some sweet fireworks over to the house so we could have a little family firework show. Utah changed the laws this year to allow aerial fireworks in most areas. It made fireworks so much fun this year. One of the fireworks set off had like 5 different ones that went up and blew up - only one of them flew straight out the back and blew up on our neighbors porch. I was laughing so hard because it was so crazy - and not 5 minutes earlier they had been out sitting on their porch watching the fireworks we were doing. Good thing they went inside!

More funny things about the night: Claire wore her fleece Christmas pj's. Luke got no less than 10 mosquito bites on his bare chest and back. Talon and Roman liked watching from the back of the minivan (with the door closed).

The Girl's Birthday Party

Sophie and Ella have birthday's 3 days apart and since they were in town this weekend Emily and I thought it would be fun to let them celebrate together. We got them matching Tangled outfits to wear to the party. They loved being dressed up.

They got pretty much exactly the same stuff. They are two peas in a pod those two.

Emily made them matching cakes - they were beautiful and seriously delish!

Happy birthday you two crazy girls! I love that Sophie has a cousin just as silly and cute and fun as her the exact same age. These two are going to have so much fun as they get older.

Adam's Birthday Party

Since Danny and family were in town for the 4th of July weekend we got to celebrate Adam's 9th birthday with him. It was an all day party starting with birthday pancakes of course. Then the kids went to play at Grandma & Grandpa's house. Then we had a slip-n-slide/water balloon party. Danny made an amazing pasta dinner and Emily made a delicious flag cake to finish it off.
