Peace and Quiet

On Friday afternoon Todd and his mom took the kids out on the boat while Sophie was napping so I stayed home for some peace and quiet. They were gone for about 3 hours. I put on my iPod and cleaned the entire house and then when Sophie woke up we ran a few errands. Then on Saturday Todd and his mom took all the kids to the fish store while Sophie was napping so once again I volunteered to stay home with her. I opted to finish the last 2 loads of laundry, do the dishes and finally read my book for a few minutes.

The funny part is that even though I didn't nap or rest really it was so great to have the house to myself to get everything done I wanted to. It was nice to not have to find extra time on Saturday to clean when I would rather be spending time as a family. I love having a clean house and I don't mind cleaning it especially when I can rock out to some music and not worry about what my kids are doing or trying to keep them busy with chores of their own. I think it's fun when we all clean the house together (it takes twice as long but it's fun to watch the kids clean) but it was so nice to just be alone doing simple tasks thinking and enjoying time to myself.

Like Father .... Like Son

I decided to put my new blogging camera to good use this past week. Every time I picked up a pair of Todd or Tayson's socks I took a picture.

For some reason they both have a habit of taking off their socks wherever they are and leave them for the house sock fairy (see #18)to take care of. I thought about leaving the socks laying around the house and not washing them until they ran out...but I couldn't handle leaving them for more than a few hours before they drove me crazy and I just picked them up. When Todd realized what I was doing he actually tried to remember to pick up his socks so I would have less evidence.

The search for the binky

Last night at bedtime I realized that there wasn't a binky in Claire's crib. I normally keep 2-3 in her crib so that during the night she can always find one. She doesn't use them except to sleep so they are rarely just laying around the house like they always were with Luke (who was never seen without one). So I went out to the Durango to see if there was one in there the car and to my suprise I found: 4 1/2 pairs of shoes, 7 sippy cups, 1 bottle (still full of milk - yuck!), 3 water bottles, 5 cars (the big ones from chevron), a volleyball, a small basketball, a pair of pants, a shirt, 2 coats, a blanket, a big box of goldfish, more old french fries than I could count, enough trash for 3 trips to the trash can and.....2 binkies!!!! The trip was a success and ended up taking me an extra 15 minutes to sort and put away everything I found. The sad part is I cleaned out the car last Saturday. WOW.

Now for all of you who think I'm a slob...I don't drive the Durango on a daily basis our absolutely amazing nanny does. It's just hard to clean up after the kids sometimes :)
