Crazy Horse & Mt Rushmore

Today's adventure started with the Crazy Horse Monument.  It was HUGE and a very interesting story.  It will be cool if they are ever able to finish it.

Then we headed over to Mt Rushmore. I have so many fun memories of Mt Rushmore - it was fun to be back and to see the boys on the mountain.

The kids did the Jr Ranger program - and learned a lot of cool facts while having fun.

Mammoth Springs & Evan's Plunge

Our first adventure was Mammoth Springs.  When I called to make our camping reservations the lady told me to stop here on our way into town.  I am so glad I listened.  It was about an hour away from our campsite.  We stopped ate lunch then did the museum.  It was so cool seeing an active dig site.  We were the only people there so we got the royal treatment.

Then we hit Evan's plunge which was just up the street in the same little town.  Again we were just about the only people there and had the entire place to ourselves.  It's an indoor pool that is actually a hot spring with rocks on the bottom and fresh water.  There were pools, slides, and rope swings.

After a few hours of swimming we made our way up to our campsite in Custer.

Epic Spring Break

This year we are checking off one of my bucket list family trips.  Rent and RV and go to Mt. Rushmore.  I am so excited!!  We got to play games, eat snacks, have a bubble blowing contest and more all while Todd drove us.  The first day we drove half way and slept in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Passports

We got our passports!  Bring on Mexico.  We had to put them under lock and key because Sophie kept trying to take hers and put it in her purse or take it places.

Moroni and the Mayor

I am lucky to work right next to where the new Provo City Center Temple is being built.  It was so sad to watch the Tabernacle burn down but has been so amazing to watch it become a temple.  Because I work at Nu Skin we got front row seats to see Moroni being placed on top.  Kami dropped off Sophie and Glen after school too.

Provo's mayor John Curtis was watching from the Nu Skin building where we were so when he came over to say hello I introduced Sophie to him.  I told her how he was the one who was responsible for our new rec center and getting us Google fiber.  Then they had a lengthy conversation about the band-aid on his thumb and how he got it and did it bleed and she showed him her injured finger nail.  It was hilarious.  He's a great mayor and an even better person.  When Sophie got home she told the other kids all about meeting the mayor - but forgot to mention she got to watch Moroni get placed on top of the temple.

I love being greeted by Moroni every morning as I walk into work....and I find myself singing "High on the Mountain Top" almost every day :)

Luke's 4th Grade Performance

Last night was Luke's 4th grade performance about Utah.  He was cast as a Mountain Man and did a great job.  He had a speaking part and a little dancing.  He was so excited and gave us his cute closed mouth smile every time he saw us in the audience.  Great job bubba!!
