I workout

I posted this picture with this caption:
"Throwback to when I could only clean 45 lbs.  Tonight was one of the best nights at Generator Crossfit when I finally got my 95 lb clean!  You can call me beefcake if you want. "

I ran 14 miles down Provo Canyon today and I can't tell you how much I love running in our canyons.  It is so beautiful and it makes me so happy.

Today after crossfit I got home and Todd said "did you do situps today?"  I answered "yea...why?" and he took this picture for me.  HA HA HA.

Boston Strong

One year ago I ran the Boston marathon and one year ago the bombs went off.  So today the kids and I wore our Boston gear to celebrate being Boston Strong.  I wish I were running the marathon again this year but instead I will have Boston in my heart.  Until next year...when I run my all-time favorite race again.

New Years Goals

I ran 1588.80 miles this year.  WOW!  What a year of running it was for me.  I PR'd every distance race and ran more miles this year that ever before.  It has been sad to end it on a bad note with my tendonitis but all in all I couldn't be happier with my running in 2013!

Housewives Christmas Party

Today was our annual Housewives of the UC Christmas party.  It is so much fun.  There aren't many things better than friends, eating, laughing and giving gifts.  It's as good as Oprah's favorite things show.  I plan for months for the perfect gift for the girls.  This year I gave a cute necklace charm to everyone with their spice name.

Lizzy's First Run

Today was my first run in over 2 weeks.  I decided to take it easy and only part of the miles with the girls.  I ran 5 miles and took Lizzy for her first run.  She was a little crazy at the start but ran like a champ and easily ran 5 miles.  She loved being out front.  If people ever ran in front of us she would pull me faster until we lead the way.  She is so crazy.

Girls Weekend

I love the girls I run with.  I just love them.  We have so much fun together.  This year we got matching poop socks from Heather and Lyke watches from our "sponsor" Board Co.  We had a blast running the Snow Canyon half-marathon and then shopping, eating and visiting the Temple.

Boston

Today in the mail I got my official racers magazine from Boston.  This makes me so excited to run Boston again in 2015.

Pink Half-Marathon

I normally wouldn't run a half-marathon the week after a marathon.  But this was for a good cause and with great friends.  We ran for Kuu and her fight with cancer.  I love these girls so much.

St George Pics

I actually bought a couple of pictures from the marathon.  I love these pictures.  They make me happy.

Millie's Princess Run

I really wanted to do this race but couldn't because the kids had a swim meet and Todd is already off to Alaska on his "boys only" trip.  So Timmy and Megan took Sophie with them for the race.  Sophie went back and forth on which princess she was going to be and ended up running as Aurora.  She loved spending some alone time with Cinderella and Prince Charming too.

Thanks to having her own special "chariot" to ride the entire race she placed first in her age group.  Ha.  One of the first things she told me after the race was that she beat Megan.  Silly little girl.  But hey - maybe I finally have a runner :)

While Mom is Running

Todd is the best guy ever I spend most Saturday mornings on long runs and he takes care of the kids.  This morning Tayson had a basketball game and I got home minutes before we had to leave and this is how my kids looked.  WOW.  But hey they are dressed and we made it to the game on time.

Oh wait....I can't really talk because this is how I showed up to the game.

Girls Trip to St. George

I got to head down to warm weather with the running crew for a few days of fun.  I so love these girls.  It was so much fun to just relax and hang out, shop, eat, cheer on friends, go for a run, and of course draw our legs for next years Ragnar.

To show we were the "party car" we put on these sweet hats for a photo op

I drew runner #1 for next year

These 2 amazing girls ran the Snow Canyon 1/2 marathon

Our whole crew after the race

Enjoying relaxing in the sun - reading magazines and chatting

Our last dinner before half of us had to head home and back to reality

Shannon drew leg 10 - Ragnar Hill so we thought this crazy gas station sign was appropriate

St. Patrick's Day

This year we did our family St. Patty's dinner on Friday - the day before the actual holiday. So I bought green bread and green jello and made green alfredo sauce, green butter, peas and shamrock shakes (sprite & lime sherbert).  The kids love our dyed carbohydrate holiday meals so I keep dying the food.  Ha.

After dinner we thought it would be fun to cuddle on our bed and watch a St. Patty's movie.  Who knew there are no good ones!?!  Todd found one called "The Unlucky Leprechaun" - do NOT watch this movie.  It was sooooo bad I was dying 10 minutes into it but we watched the entire thing no matter how boring and bad the acting was.  Then we had green cupcakes with green frosting and green sprinkles.  Sophie at the frosting off hers and wanted more so I gave her more frosting then when I wasn't looking she licked the frosting off 2 more cupcakes. About an hour after she fell asleep (on my floor next to the bed) she let out the hugest burp then threw up everywhere.  I've never seen so much green puke in my life.  It was absolutely disgusting! I got her in the bath did some quick laundry took a shower myself and then she slept fine.  I guess 4 cupcakes worth of frosting was just too much for her little tummy to handle.

On the morning of the actual holiday I got up and did a crazy run with Traci.  Isn't her green hat too cute? We ran from her house to the Y then hiked up to the Y and back down then ran home.  It was about 11 miles total and it was killer.  I was sore for almost a week after that workout!

The Turkey Trot

Four years ago we added a new tradition to our Schultz Family Thanksgiving - the Earn Your Turkey 4 mile run on Thanksgiving morning.  There is a 4 mile run, a 2 mile walk and kids races.  The first year we did it we had shirts made and everyone did the race.  We had about 40 people in the race and 9 of the 10 kids did the race (Mark was on his mission).  I think we walked away with 4 or 5 turkeys that year.  I love starting off Thanksgiving with this race!!

This year only a few of us did it.  And I actually won my age group this year at 29:31.9.  Too bad we left right after the race and I didn't stay to pick up my turkey.  I ran the fastest I've ever run the race (7:30 pace).  It was 40 degrees this year which helped.  Timmy ran with me the whole time and then out sprinted me at the end.  I was so mad at him.  If you run together you finish together!!

When I finished I ran back to meet Heidi and ran in her last mile with her.  It made me so happy that she was running.  She ran 3 of the 4 miles!!  The last time she ran consistently was when I made her train and do an Olympic distance triathlon.  A few months ago when I signed up for the Utah Valley Marathon Heidi signed up for the half marathon.  I LOVE IT!!

St. George Marathon

Sherry and Danny both ran the St. George marathon this weekend so we packed up the car and headed down to cheer them on and spend a fun weekend playing with family. My parents, Timmy, Sherry, Brandon, Danny, Emily, their kids, Todd, our kids and I all ended up going down.

When we got to our rooms we saw this sign on Danny's door. I LOVE it!!

Danny finished in 3:13 and qualified for Boston. He rocked his first marathon. The guy is a machine. He said the last few miles were killer and he wasn't mentally prepared for how it would feel but he seriously kicked butt. He averaged a 7:22 pace - CRAZY!!

Sherry finished so strong. She looked so great coming into the finish and pushed fast to the finish. She finished in 3:19 - her fastest marathon in years. She is a machine too!! The girl just isn't going to slow down no matter how old she gets - although I don't think 41 is old.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this picture of her - both of her feet are off the ground.
She is flying to the finish line.

Of course we wore our Schultz shirts - Timmy's blue was dirty so he pulled out his red one and we forgot to tell Brandon that it's just assumed that when we're together we wear our shirt. It was fun walking around as a big group the whole day. And the shirts make it so easy to find everyone.

Danny and Sherry talking at the end of the race. I am so proud of both of them. I got a little teary as they crossed the finish line. I love cheering them on and seeing how incredible they are. They are truly inspiring with how disciplined and accomplished they are. How I grew up between these two and ended up as normal as I am amazes me.
This is the first race Emily has been at to cheer Danny on - we were all pretty excited about that. And I think she had fun :)

After the race we headed back to the hotel pool. My mom & dad picked up Cafe Rio for us and we played at the pool for hours.

Sophie and Ella have the same water wings and are seriously so dang cute together. Ella is fearless and makes Sophie look almost calm. She was jumping off the highest rock and doing the splits in the air. She is such a crack up. These 2 girls are two peas in a pod.

We went to Texas Roadhouse that night for dinner and split up into 4 tables to get seated faster. My parents ended up with Sophie and Ella. When the waitresses started dancing so did the girls in their booth. This waitress saw them and pulled them down and taught them the dance. They were so cute and the girls were in heaven!
(yes they are both wearing their Schultz shirts with hot pink matching skirts)
Other fun moments of the trip not captured on film:
- when someone at the pool asked my dad how his race was because of how funny he was walking (I'll admit he took a big fall the night before on the slick rocks .... but still it was hilarious)
- eating Golden Spoon yogurt with hot peanut butter!
- taking the kids to the outlets and buying entirely too many things for Claire because she convinced me how cute she would look in them (I'm a sucker for cute shoes and clothes)
- the drive was even great - it was fast and the kids were good
