Celebrities I've met over the years

A while back my friend Alice posted an entry on her blog with famous mormons she has met. This got me thinking of the celebrities I have met throughout my life...most in very funny situations as I look back. Todd and I talked about what "celebrity" means on this post and it is simply someone well known to any group of people or that I could find on IMDB or Wikipedia.

Flo Jo and Al_Joyner:
I met Flo Jo and Al through Nu Skin. We sponsored both of them for a few years. She is amazing and I loved watching her run in the Olympics a true athlete and woman.

Peter Vidmar: When I was pretty young (in 1984) we went to Ohio and Peter Vidmar was there speaking at a church site so we got to take our pictures with him and get his autograph. I was young enough that he was still taller than me.

Steve Young: I met Steve Young for the first time in 1984 at the same venue as Peter Vidmar then several other times when I was at BYU.

Ty Detmer: I was a freshman at BYU the year Ty Detmer won the Heisman Trophy and I met him on campus a few times.

James Worthy: Todd and I got to go to game 5 of the NBA western conference finals (Lakers vs. Trailblazers in 2000) thanks to Bob Davis. We had box seats and James Worthy came into the box and he even called Todd “big guy”.

Shawn Bradley: I met Shawn when I was in High School. His HS basketball team came out to play the Missouri State Champs. Shawn and a couple of his other teammates spoke at a stake fireside and I jokingly got his autograph then Danny, Heidi and I skipped school the next day and went downtown to watch the game. It was really fun. Then Shawn ended up dating a girl in my dorms freshman year so we saw each other a lot and even went on a big group date to Preference freshman year and we had Biology together freshman year.

Dave Nibley: I worked with Dave at “Stevenetts” malt shoppe back in 1991 before his mission. Lucky for me that my friend Alice got me a job there so I could add him to my celebrity fame.

Mark Stevenett, me and Dave Nibley at the Malt Shoppe - luckily I wasn't working this day so I'm not wearing all white with a sweet apron and visor

Donny Osmond: I met Donny while working at Stevenettes – it was celebrity central

Katherine Nelson Thompson: I lived with Katherine’s older sister Morinda while at BYU back when Kat was in High School. She is staring as Emma in the new LDS movie and has a CD with her music on it.

Matt Biedel: Matt and I were friends at BYU back when he was performing at the theater as an aspiring actor. Looks like he managed to live his dreams. (I know I have pictures with him too, but I couldn't find the box)

Cari French: I met Cari when I was in High School at a Tremaine dance convention. She was a Fly Girl on In Living Colour.

Abe Mills: Abe grew up in my home ward back in St. Charles, Missouri. His family moved early in High School, but then we were at BYU together. For those of you who don't know Mormon celebrities he has been in movies, on "Center Street" a BYU production, a weatherman at BYU and he was also in the band Jericho Road.

I met the following people while I was a flight attendant with TWA: Johnny Cash, Keith Sweat and Anthony Kiedis.

The Aquabats: back in the BYU days one of my roommates was friends with a couple of the guys from the band so when they came up to play in Provo they came by our apartment to hang out.

SOFA: Only the best band that ever hit the music scene in Provo.

Brett, Mike, Darin and Jason

After a show we would always hang out on the "Velvet Elvis"

Warrant: This is the funniest of all my celebrity encounters. When I was 16 I worked at Six Flags Amusement Park with my friend Windy and one day when we worked Warrant was playing there so she wanted to go meet them. I honestly had no idea who they were (I wasn’t that into glam rock at the time) so we found them and met them then the singer Jani and the drummer Steve somehow ended up wanting to go to see the Arch the next day. Windy volunteered taking them but she didn’t have a car or license so I ended up picking up Windy, driving to their hotel, going to their hotel room, took them downtown to the arch, they took us out to dinner then I took them back to their hotel. It was an all day event and now looking back I don’t know what I was thinking...I was a very naive 16 year old.

Jani (singer), me and Steve in the arch. Nice polariod picture!

Steve, me and Jani outside of the arch. Don't ask me what I was doing in this picture I guess it was my attempt to look cool or something

Alrighty, I could have added 3 more to my list.

I also know Dave Nibley (c'mon that is stretching it), Sofa, and Abe Mills (was in my ward in Orem)

I also missed Junior Seau, and Tony Gwyn. But, hey, it's o.k...you can't be expected to remember everyone.

I am glad that I gave you such a great post though...YOU HAVE QUITE THE LIST!!! Amazing

And, the Stevenett's photo was a blast from the past. WOW. We are old.

Also, loved the one of you and Jodi and Shawn Bradley...hillarious photo.

Ok, your pictures with Warrant are freaking awesome. That is quite a story and I hope you've scrapbooked it for posterity. LOL
