My Bright Idea

Today was a gorgeous day. The first real spring day we have had so around noon I decided it would be fun to leave early (just like all my co-workers with spring fever)and come home and take the kids on a walk to deliver a few books to some neighbors. I left work around 3:30 and when I got home the boys were over at the neighbors playing and my 15 month old nephew was at the house. No problem. So I changed out of my heels and work clothes, got Claire and Talon in the stroller, found the leash and collar for Shadow and headed off to the neighbors. Luke wanted to hold the leash and be in charge of Shadow and within minutes Tayson was crying since he had the leash wrapped around his body and his razor scooter at least 4 times. So I went over told Luke to stop which caused him to throw a fit, unwrapped Tayson and within a few more minutes we were off. Luke wanted to push the stroller so we ended up running into the curb a few times so I took over stroller duty and Shadow duty. Tayson liked to ride within inches of the stroller and Shadow so we kept stopping and starting and getting all tangled up. Poor Claire almost got clotheslined a few times by the leash. Then Luke decided he wanted to ride in the double stroller so I put the back down and put him in behind Talon. Talon didn't like this idea at all so I had to take everyone out and move Claire to the back with Luke and put Talon in the front of the stroller. Claire decided it would be fun to hit Talon in the head the entire ride from this point since she was directly behind him. Then Luke decided to get out of the stroller to walk and after running about 6 steps face planted on the street and rocks. So now I am carrying Luke, pushing the stroller and holding Shadow's leash....ugh! I still hadn't made it to the first house. I finally calmed Luke down and got him back in the stroller and we made it to both houses. The walk back wasn't half as exciting as the walk there but Talon and Claire cried the entire way - oh well. That's what I get for sleeping in this morning and trying to get a little exercise with the kids. I will remember today the next time I turn off my alarm in the morning!

Holy Cow Kathy! LOL, man did that story bring back a flood of memories. I still have similar days, just now that they are getting older, I don't have quite as many of them.

Yes, and that is the reason I have not given in to the incessant begging for a dog!

So glad to be out of the stroller days. Don't know if I will ever go back.

I've been on this same walk with my dog, Dylan, and Ethan many times before...only it's typically Dylan that I have trouble controlling. ( :
