So today I read posts on Alice and Lacey's blogs about safety and sex offenders. Yuck!!! It is just one of those topics that makes you completely sick as a parent. My kids are just so sweet and little and I can't imagine how someone could hurt a child, but it happens way too much. We have had lots of "stranger danger" talks with the kids and I sure hope they remember them when it matters most. Sadly, it isn't always the strangers and those are the people I fear the most with my kids.
So, I looked on the familywatchdog website that Alice posted and lucky for me there are NO registered/convicted sex offenders in my neighborhood (yet) and the great news is that there are several police officers in my neighborhood and I LOVE that they park their cars out on the street. It makes me feel safer for my family. My kids love to play outside especially now that it's officially spring in Utah! Woo Hoo!! I'm sure it will still snow several times, but if it's in the 40's and 50's between those storms it's fine with me.

Sorry to bring up the dreaded topic, but I am happy for your good news...safe neighborhood! Yeah..don't come and visit us...he he
My neighbor is a social worker and my oldest, Anna, once told her in front of all the other neighbors that she couldn't touch her private parts. I was horrified until she said to me that "that was music" to her ears.
It is sad that we have to worry about it. But I feel better knowing that I have spoken to them about it a ton and taught them what to do if the ever found themselves in a bad situation.
